Lawful and Justified Response to Criminal Attack Defending against
criminal attack must be lawful and justifiable. Knowing when and how to react to violent threats is essential to those who have made the decision to be armed. Lessons learned from actual incidents will be considered. This 4- hour class includes a review of segments of Illinois criminal law under 720 ILCS Article7, the Firearm Concealed Carry Act (430 ILCS 66), case studies, and illustrates a pathway to making informed decisions in high stress, self-defense
situations.

This course is invaluable if you own a firearm for home defense or concealed carry. It is a rare opportunity to receive this kind of training. If you’ve never had formal self-defense training or, if you’ve been through basic or concealed carry training, you may still have questions about the issues of lawful and justifiable use of force. This class is designed to address a number of those issues. This class is not legal advice but is a general review of the law in the State of Illinois and consideration of past and current self-defense cases, along with potential everyday scenarios.

Jeff Chudwin is a career law enforcement officer and retired as the Chief of Police for the Village of Olympia Fields, IL. A graduate of DePaul University Law School, Jeff served as an Assistant States Attorney for both Will and Cook Counties, IL where he reviewed and prosecuted numerous crimes against the public, including citizen’s use of force in self-defense. As an attorney, he has represented both citizens and police officers involved in high level use of force incidents. As a state certified instructor, he has presented firearms and self-defense / use of force classes to both law enforcement officers and private citizens for over 40 years.
